Principal's Message

Let me begin by wishing all our stakeholders a happy and fulfilling year ahead and extend a warm welcome to all our new Secondary One students and parents to Clementi Town Secondary.

Strong Fundamentals

Clementi Town Secondary is into an exciting stage of growth. Over the past 32 years, the school has established a strong partnership with parents, institutions of higher learning and the community to provide the best education for every child. Our fundamental belief is that every child can learn and grow in academic pursuits and character given the right conditions.

Over the past 3 years, we have consolidated our progress as a school, review our instructional and Co-Curricular Programme to ensure that they remain rigorous and relevant to cater to the needs and aspirations of our students. Some of the revised signature programmes include the Aspire Camp, NT REAL Curriculum, HEY(Habits for Highly Effective Youths), Student Leadership Development and Service Learning. The school has also expanded the overseas immersion and cultural exchange Programme with learning journeys to Australia, UK, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Malaysia.

We will continue to strive for excellence in the design and delivery of a holistic education with a strong focus on academic excellence, character development and innovation, leveraging on technology and keeping in tandem with the changing needs of the community. Our philosophy is that every child has potential and every child matters, no one should be left behind or forgotten. Good teachers care and will constantly find ways to connect with their students.

Future Learning
The 21st century will require citizens and workers to possess skills and mindsets such as thinking, communication, collaboration and management skills as well as civic, information, media, technological and multi-cultural literacies. We will continue to review our programmes at regular intervals to factor in the required competencies, traits and dispositions that have been distilled into a set of C2015 Student Outcomes by MOE as shown below:

Shared Future
In tandem with the vision for the teaching fraternity viz Singapore Teachers: Lead, Care, Inspire, our shared vision is for CTSS to be a vibrant community of learners that values every individual and nurtures the spirit of excellence. Every teacher works towards being a caring teacher, collaborative leader, curriculum designer and innovator to ensure quality teaching and learning. Students will be nurtured through the ABC (ACTIVE, BRIGHT, CARING) framework in our mission to develop in every Clementeen, the passion to learn, the confidence to lead and the humility to serve.

The whole-school approach in building a Professional Learning Community (PLC) will continue with the 3 big ideas on ensuring students learn, building a culture of collaboration and focusing on outcomes. We hope to partner stakeholders in our quest to make a positive difference not only for the school but the community at large. The following are 4 strategic thrusts that will propel us to the next phase of growth:

  1. Striving for Sustained Academic Excellence
  2. Forging Strategic Partnerships
  3. Enhancing Staff Engagement and Building Staff Capacity
  4. Moulding the Character of Every Clementeen

We hope to create a distinctive culture, a positive ethos and a dynamic eco-system where every child is supported in his/her journey with us.

Anchored in Purpose and Values

We live in a fast-paced society and the world that is changing more rapidly than before. Our education landscape has also been evolving in tandem with the changes around us. It is important for us amidst the many changes to be always anchored in purpose and values. We will work closely with parents and the community to nurture in every Clementeen, the core values of the school- ASPIRE (Adaptability, Self-Discipline, Perseverance, Integrity and REspect) and help them navigate the increasing complexities of the world.

Last but not least, our dreams and aspirations will not be possible without the strong support of parents, alumni, SAC and the community. May I take this opportunity to thank all our partners in education for the immense contribution and support of our school. I look forward to working with all of you to nurture our young - the future of Singapore.

Aspire & Grow
